A short online video can be an effective "Virtual Site Visit" for your organization, helping you recruit clients, board, donors, staff and/or volunteers. Increasingly, media technology has proven useful and necessary in the non-profit sector, but non-profit organizations still view such implementation as costly, overly time consuming or technologically difficult to undertake on their own.
Since 2006, the foundation has offered some form of in-house multimedia/video services to the organizations we fund, following a brief experiment with documentary film production for a few of our grantees the year before. Recent advances in web technology, software, and mobile devices such as the iPod and iPhone have created more cutting edge and affordable opportunities for non-profits to market their work, easily and affordably.
The foundation still creates short video for our grantees, on a limited basis, but we have launched a companion website to teach non-profits and foundations what we have learned over time, so they can create their own videos and upload them easily for viewing in a variety of venues and on various mobile devices.
