Sample: Goals and Objectives
GOALS: What goals do you plan to accomplish at the time of the grant award?
MEASURABLE ACTIVITIES: What activities do you plan to accomplish at the time of the grant award? Should be measurable and quantifiable performance targets with measurement and evaluation tools in place.
OBJECTIVES: What benefits or changes are to result from participation in the program? Should be measurable improvements.
 
Example 1:
PROGRAM: Web Design Employment Training
GOAL: To help bridge the digital divide by connecting low-income residents of xxx neighborhood to the high tech economy.
MEASURABLE ACTIVITIES: 30 low-income youth (age 16-20) will be recruited for the Web Design Level 1 training course; 20 will enroll and receive 60 hours of training each, including topics X, XX, and XXX; Hands-on experience in XX. (Further description)
OBJECTIVES:
  • Average attendance will be 80% or higher for the duration of the 8 week course.
  • 19 of 20 low-income youth will complete Web Design Level 1 training course.
  • 16 will score 80% or higher in a post-test.
  • 15 course graduates will obtain employment in the web design field.
  • 13 course graduates will remain in jobs for at least one year.
 
Example 2:
PROGRAM: Teen Summer Internship
GOAL: To provide meaningful summer employment experiences for teens in cultural organizations in Los Angeles.
MEASURABLE ACTIVITIES: 30 diverse, low income teens will be recruited, receive orientation, training, and supervision, and will be placed in an 8-week summer job. (Further description of the types of employment in cultural organizations, and typical activities)
OBJECTIVES:
  • 30 teens will increase job readiness skills including X, XX, and XXX.
  • 28 will satisfactorily complete their job responsibilities and learn XX.
  • 28 will have increased knowledge of career opportunities & enhanced personal academic goals.
  • 25 will demonstrate enhanced confidence in a workplace environment and improved communications and leadership skills.
