The EEFC is an informal collaborative of funders in the San Francisco Bay Area that develops avenues for sharing and partnering with the many stakeholders in the field of environmental and science education.
Our mission is to collaborate as funders to promote and support organizations that connect youth to the natural world and educate and equip them with the experience, scientific knowledge and skills to become lifelong environmental advocates and engaged members of their communities.
The EEFC proudly supports and partners with the Bay Area's Education by Nature Collaborative, "Science by Nature." We work together to find new strategies and collaborative funding opportunities and are encouraged by results showing improved quality and quantity of grant support for environmental and science education.
Sharing knowledge and best practices in community engagement has delivered meaningful impact locally, and has allowed us to advance systemic change.
We are proud to have created an effective and productive learning exchange and peer network for core EEFC members and open to interested philanthropists and grantmakers. When we learn, share and work together, we are able to advance regional-scale initiatives through replicable models more effectively than we could each individually, providing the children in our counties with high quality, standards-based, experiential and outdoor environmental education programs within a more equitable, cost-effective and coordinated delivery system.
